Twisties Band Hero Party Event

A few weeks ago I entered a contest at Twisties Malaysia Facebook page for the Twisties Band Hero Party. This contest was for Nuffnang bloggers and I love trying to make up a slogan at the top of my mind like that. So, I gave it a try and didn’t think much about it after that. However, it seems that my entry got through and I was picked to go to the event last Sunday, 10th July at The Bee, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.

I only found out few hours before leaving for PJ that the theme of the event was Rock and the theme color was red and yellow. So, Bbunz and I didn’t come to the event in the themed clothes. Whatever it is though, we were hoping to score some MTV Worldstage 2011 tickets instead.

We arrived pretty late to the event but luckily they didn’t start on time – Malaysians, what to do.. LOL! The event was supposed to start at 6pm but it dragged to 7pm instead where Nick (one of the Nuffies) was the MC. There was an ice breaking game at first, where we have to find a partner that has the same song as we do (from the note in our paper bag) and the first partner going to the stage will win free goody bags. I went on stage with Lily, we even hummed Bruno Mars’ Grenade, but it seems that we didn’t get the loudest cheers and so we didn’t win. Hmm, I thought this was a little unfair considering the other partner didn’t even know how to hum the Grenade’s song. But that’s OK, maybe we can win something else later, I thought.

After we had something to eat, there was another competition, where we have to form bands – just as the name of the event suggests – according to the number that was given to us when we registered earlier. One band will consist of two guitarists, one drummer and one singer. It’s a Guitar Hero game and we were told the highest scored band will win special prizes. I was in the 6th band, joined by another 3 people. Elwyn, who was also in the same band as me asked me what we should name our band and I suggested the name “Awesome”.

I never liked waiting, but waited I did, for our band’s turn. Being nervous and waiting for your turn to come is not a very good combination. LOL!

All bands were given two chances of songs to play. Our first song was Kung Fu Fighting which did not fight very well because we didn’t get to finish the whole song – *fail*. Our second song however was our winning song, which bagged us the first prize – a pair of VIP tickets to MTV World Stage 2011, among others. So that was pretty Awesome indeed don’t you agree? Oh, I never played Guitar Hero in my whole life.

After a group photo with the others, both Bbunz and I had to leave because the time was nearly 10.30pm and we were exhausted. But we’re  definitely happy with the win and also the freebies, all thanks to Nuffnang and Twisties! Yeay!
